    CHRISTMAS 2005

John 1: 1 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 - He was in the beginning with God.
3 - All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be
    4 - through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;
5 - the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome (or comprehend) it.
9 - The true light, which enlightens everyone , was coming into the world.
10 - He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, But the world did not know him.
12 - But to those who did accept him, he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name,
13 - who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man's decision but of God.
14 - And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth.

In John's gospel, Jesus manifests the glory of God. The purpose of John's Gospel is to help us to believe in the divinity as well as the humanity of Jesus in order for us to have access to his life. When we believe in him and follow him, we will have eternal life.

In the Bible the word "glory" is defined as God's visible manifestation of majesty in power, which once filled the tabernacle (Ex 40, 34) the temple (1 Kings 8,10-11.27), is now centered in Jesus.

During this wondrous and joyful Christmas season, as we exchange gifts with family and friends as well as include gifts for the needy let us be joyful for the treasured Divine Gift Our Heavenly Father gave us for our salvation, His only Son Jesus Christ. Let us give thanks for His eternal love and for the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Let our hearts be filled with gratitude for Our Blessed Mother who never ceases to intercede for us.

    Prayer For A Happy Family

Lord Jesus, During your hidden years at Nazareth, you consecrated family life.
Grant that we may fashion our lives after the example of your Holy Family.
Through the intercession of your glorious Mother Mary and St. Joseph, help us to live according to the pattern You gave us.
Establish our family in your peace and grace.
Welcome us all at the end of our lives, and bring us to dwell with you forever in union with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Please continue to pray for peace in the world, for our troops and the end of the conflict in Iraq. Thank you.

May you all enjoy a blessed and joyful Christmas and a healthy, happy New Year.

    Your companion in prayer,
    Mary
