    THE MOVIES,
    A STORY OF
    REQUITED & UNREQUITED LOVE
    May 14, 2006

While surfing the T.V. one very sleepless night, my attention was drawn to an old black and white movie. There are many old movies with legendary actors and actresses representing noble and charming characters as well as nasty villains, dishonest, greedy and selfish individuals. Most of us have made the acquaintance of someone fitting the above-mentioned descriptions.

Claudette Coburn and Orson Wells starred in a story of true love (women are easily engrossed in heart wrenching stories). After losing her husband and first love to war, Claudette Coburn, beautiful, poised and gracious, remarried a successful man. Her marriage to her second husband was filled with love, and esteem. They were well established in the social circle and they raised their family with commitment and respect.

Approximately twenty years later, her first husband (Orson Wells) returns. From sustaining a war injury he walked with a cane and his hands trembled. He had grown a beard and mustache, was older, developed an Austrian accent and changed his name. He became employed as a scientist in Claudette Coburn's second husband's laboratory.

He was invited to their home on several occasions, and although she did not recognize him immediately, she gradually became suspicious and questioned him, indeed, later pleaded with him to admit his true identity. Loving and wise, he did not wish to disturb her family life and would never admit that he was in fact her first husband. Truth be told, her older son never knew who his biological father was. Orson Well's performance was outstanding and impeccable.

His genuine and true love prevented him from disrupting her life and family. A noble heart, he sacrificed his very life and happiness for her. This story had to be one of the most tear jerking movies I've watched in a long time.

Orson Wells' love for his wife extended beyond romantic love. His disappointments and struggles in the prior life led him into the realm of spiritual and sacrificial love. He was greatly aware that he needed to leave this life with a sense of honor and dedication.

    Beloved Friends,

This is a rosary website devoted to our Blessed Mother and her intentions. How can a Hollywood movie be relative to spirituality?

Certainly, the world crowns success such as money, power and fame. More importantly, God crowns faithfulness. Woman is the heart of love, tenderness and compassion. Woman is also the heart of the family and home. It is the loving mother who sacrifices her personal time and efforts for her family. Mothers strive for their children's welfare and it is she who teaches them kindness and sympathy. Fathers are strong and providers, a very important responsibility, but loving wives and mothers inspire and encourage their families to grow in the grace of the Lord. Committed, they are enablers of faith and goodness.

Our Blessed Mother was sanctified by the Holy Spirit and she was filled with a deep sense of heaven, the angels and most importantly, the love of God. She sacrificed her life and suffered along with her son, Jesus, for the salvation of mankind. She was Jesus' first disciple and was obsessed with pleasing God, Our Father. She was and is the embodiment of love. Because of her humility and unwavering faith, she was crowned Queen of the Universe!

Ephesians 3:17-19 May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith, and may charity be the root and foundation of your life. Thus you will be able to grasp fully, with all the holy ones, the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ's love, and experience this love which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may attain to the fullness of God himself.

Perhaps the answer to all our struggles and trials is the will to sacrifice in the name of Jesus.

A Prayer to Our Blessed Mother

Take my hand, O Blessed Mother
Hold me firmly 'lest I fall
I grow nervous while walking and
    Humbly on thee I call.

    Guide me over every crossing,
Watch me when I'm on the stairs
Let me know that you're beside me
    Listen to my fervent prayers.

    Bring me to my destination
    Safely along the way
    Bless my every undertaking
And my duties for the day.

And when evening creeps upon me
I'll never fear to be alone
    Once again, O Blessed Mother
Take my hand and lead me home.

May Mary Our Blessed Mother be your model and may she strengthen and guide you for all your love and countless labors.

    Happy Mother's Day

    Your Companion in Prayer,

    Mary
