    Part 4 - June 2007

We've reached the fourth sequence of our rosary journey. I hope and pray that each and every previous sequence was spiritually meaningful and enlightening to you.

I will describe how one meditation of each of the Mysteries of the rosary is revealed to me. In addition, I have included the reflection or meditation of the selected Mysteries.

THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES: The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Nativity, The Presentation at the Temple and the Finding of Jesus

The fourth decade of the Joyful Mysteries is the Presentation at the Temple. **The meditation is OBEDIENCE.

Jerusalem was known as "Ur-sa-li-im-mu" by the Assyrians which may be translated as the "City of Peace". It is the Holy Land's most important city. Jerusalem is bordered on the west by the Mediterranean and it is bordered on the east by the Dead Sea. It stands high near a summit of a broad mountain range. The city is located at the crossing of major trade routes. The Israelites referred to Jerusalem as the Promised Land. King David captured it 2000 years B. C. and later when Solomon, the son of king David became king, he increased the size of the city from 11 acres to 32 acres. King Soloman built the Great Temple of Jerusalem.

As I mentioned previously, Our Blessed Mother was literate because she was dedicated to the Temple and learned to read and write in the Temple.

The Temple of Jerusalem was a huge multi-purpose complex. The Temple was established primarily for the worship of God. Holocausts or animal sacrificial offerings were performed in a specified area in the Temple.

It was an educational center for dedicated children. They were specifically instructed in the Holy Bible and its meaning. In the tradition of the Hebrew race, the Holy Bible included history and geography as well as spirituality and prayers (The Psalms). The Prophets of the Bible were chosen by God and inspired by the Holy Spirit to prophecy the coming of the Messiah. In addition, the Scribes copied manuscripts in the Temple.

There was a section designated for women located near a courtyard. According to Jewish Law, new mothers were required to visit the Temple to be cleansed and blessed. Because of Jesus' divinity, Our Blessed Mother was already sanctified during the time of her pregnancy and after the birth of Jesus. However, she followed the Jewish tradition and obeyed the laws of Moses by maintaining the purification ritual at the Temple.

Luke 2:25-28 "Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms, and blessed God………." 35 - to his mother he said" (and you yourself a sword shall pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES: The Agony of the Garden, The Scourging at the Pillar, The Crowning of Thorns, The Carrying of the Cross, The Crucifixion

The Carrying of the Cross - **The meditation is PATIENCE.

I visualize Jesus painfully carrying His cross up the hill towards Golgatha. He lost much blood from the scourging at the pillar and he is thirsty and extremely weak. Along the way, he meets his mother, some weeping women, and Veronica. Veronica wipes Our Lord's face. Jesus allows the image of his face to remain permanently on the cloth, Veronica didn't let fear of the Roman soldiers to deter her from reaching out to Jesus. In spite of his pain, his falling three times, and his suffering, Jesus continues to demonstrate compassion and love.

I am humbled by his suffering and his overflowing love.

THE LUMINOUS MYSTERIES: The Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, The Wedding at Cana, The Proclamation of the Kingdom of Heaven, The Transfiguration, The Institution of the Holy Eucharist.

The fourth decade is The Transfiguration. **The meditation is to SEEK HOLINESS.

Jesus transforms Himself in His divine glory before the Apostles Peter, James and John. Moses and Elijah were seen standing on either side of Jesus. The Transfiguration took place on either Mount Tabor or Mount Hermon.

Matthew 17; 5b "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."

I try daily to praise, glorify and thank God for His unceasing tender love. I also make a sincere effort to follow the Commandments and Jesus' teachings.

THE GLORIOUS MYSTERIES: The Resurrection, The Ascension, The Feast of Pentecost, The Assumption, The Coronation.

The Assumption - **The meditation is GRACE FOR A HAPPY DEATH

According to the dictation of Our Blessed Mother to St. Bridget of Sweden: "But those persons who were in my house with me when I gave up my spirit fully understood what divine mysteries I was then experiencing, because of the unusual light which they saw.

Thereafter those friends of my Son who had been brought together by God buried my body in the Valley of Josaphat. Countless angels accompanied them.

My body lay entombed in the ground. Then it was taken up to Heaven with infinite honor and rejoicing. There is no other human body in Heaven except the glorious Body of My Son and my body."

Our Lady of Fatima's message, "Pray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war." Our world is replete with political unrest and wars especially in the Middle East. In order to avoid much suffering and chastisements, it is imperative that we all pray the Rosary and inspire others to pray more frequently and with deeper devotion.

    National Order and International Peace

O King of Peace, You Who shed Your Precious Blood that all men might live as brothers in loving harmony, we humbly prostrate ourselves before You to deplore our many sins of revolt against You and our neighbor. In Your Mercy, O Lord, we implore You to inspire each and all of us to observe Your Commandments and the teachings of Your Gospel; to inspire our rulers also to heed the wise and fatherly counsels of our Holy Father the Pope, your representative on earth, so that peace may again be enjoyed by men of good will and greater glory be given to You. Amen

(Prayer taken from Jesus, Mary and Joseph Novena Manual by Fr. Stedman)

    Pray the Rosary daily!
